A two person, balance and strategy game. A pair of miners fall to the depths of a goblin cave, with their only means of escape being a rickety platform. Players must work together to defeat enemies and dodge boulders, while never allowing the platform tilt too far. Otherwise, a tragic fate will behold these two optimistic miners. Completed in one week during the 2024 UW-Madison Respawn Game Jam.

Vision

The art style in Rock Bottom takes on a broad visual palette, grasping both an underground grime and the whimsical nature of goblins. As players ascend this subterranean cavern, they are met with visuals of a worn and destructive power, constantly needing to make adjustments and survive in their weary states. Some animations are more chaotic, while others allow a slight pause in the action for one to assess the current situation they are facing. Intertwined with soft glows of light, the experience in-game is meant to feel mysterious, if even a bit haunting.

Logo Design

When considering the design for a logo, it was critical to blend a jagged rock environment with the chiseled presence of two lost miners. By beginning with a single piece of grey background, the formation of this logo came directly from erasing the edges and imbuing the words within a mossy casing.
