A side-scrolling, city exploration and profit-earning strategy game. Players lead the main character, driven to earn money for surgery, around a complex and intricate urban environment. By wandering the streets and participating in a variety of mini-games, the goal of the game is to collect enough cash in nine days, or else face a harsh and finite consequence. Completed in two weeks during the 2024 G.D.D. Spring Jam.

Vision

The art style in A Heart Knock Life takes on both a sense of dreariness and hope, ingraining a grungy tone into each object. As the player treks through the city, everything is worn, except for a few distinct buildings that stand out and draw contrast to the rest of the scene. The overall pursuit of the main character is one of struggle and uncertainty, and such darker messages are trickled throughout one's journey in this world.
